Album Info:This line branches off of the CP's ex-Milwaukee Road main line through Wisconsin (Tomah/Watertown Subdivisions) at Portage and runs south to an interchange with the WSOR at Madison. It was one of the few Milwaukee Road lines to Madison to not go up for abandonment in the 1980s, and thus followed the natural progression MILW-SOO-CP, without being bought by the state and operated by a short line at any point. It is served by a local based out of Portage, usually M-W-F as of the late 2010s.

Description:  Several of these cuts (about 100 cars each) have been brought out of storage on the WSOR Sauk branch and moved north on the CP over the last few months. However, they usually send down 1 or 2 big widecab units (often foreign power, such as BNSF, NS or CN) light to retrieve them, rather than having the regular local do it.

Description:  CP's brief appearances on the Northside are the only non-WSOR trains that operate in Madison. MILW sucessor Soo Line used to operate the branch to Sun Prairie/Waterloo as well as across town to Middleton, but ceded more and more of that service to WSOR over the years.

Title:  What the?!...
Description:  I have come to expect CP's M&P local G64 to arrive at Madison in the late afternoon on Wednesdays. However, I did NOT expect to hear a GEVO horn, nor see flashing ditch lights when I looked to the north! Big, widecab foreign road power has made some appearances here at the south end of the branch over the last few months on unit sand train moves, but not on the regular local!
