T006 returning to the Waukesha Sub main after working the industrial park |
Description: |
This spur was constructed in 2004 to serve Cargill and United Ethanol. In all my years railfanning, I'd never seen a train down here before. Surprisingly, the work is being done by T006 (the Madison-Janesville train) rather than T003 or T004, which pass by here as part of their regular route to/from Horicon via Waukesha. |

Shoving the United pickup back to the rest of the train |
Description: |
The 30th Anniversary decals on WAMX 4183 (previously WSOR 4030, prior to that WSOR 4025 numbered/painted for that anniversary in 2005) held up reasonably well for 5-6 years, then started to look really bad around sometime in 2016. Either the short hood has recently been touched up, or the white goose logo that was originally on the nose has peeled off entirely. Underneath it all, the red and gray paint is still in good condition, so if they'd just paint that conductor's side door and scrape the decals all the way off it would look pretty good! |

Clean car, dirty mind |
Description: |
The reporting marks are a slight eyebrow-raiser. Badger State Ethanol was built in Monroe at the start of the 2000s ethanol boom (when ethanol was supposed to be the savior that would end our dependence on fossil fuels), and long strings of these cars for the inbound corn and tank cars for the outbound product were all over the WSOR system. It didn't quite work out that way, and it's been quite a few years since I last saw one of these cars. However, Badger State was perhaps single-handedly responsible for ensuring continued rail service to Monroe, as the high volume of traffic it generated in the early years spurred improvements to the previously moribund line. |

Never seen red and gray power down this track before. Although WSOR technically owns this part of it, in the past CP's (formerly ICE/IMRL) local has come into the WSOR yard to perform the interchange work. |
