YJA65 departs for a Sunday SoBo run
Title:  YJA65 departs for a Sunday SoBo run
Description:  The three boxcars and the balance of the covered hoppers would be dropped somewhere en route (probably Clinton), the train arrived in Beloit with just two hoppers.

Gateway to Wisconsin
Title:  Gateway to Wisconsin
Description:  The two GP60s bracketing two covered hoppers trundle away. Just beyond the leftward curve in the distance, this ex-Milwaukee Road line once crossed the C&NW line which ran from Harvard (and Chicago) north to Janesville (or direct to Madison via Evansville off a split at Afton). The train will use a small remaining portion of that line to access customers at South Beloit.

YJA65 in "push-pull" configuration crosses Blackhawk Boulevard
Title:  YJA65 in "push-pull" configuration crosses Blackhawk Boulevard
Description:  Just south of the barely-marked Behr spur crossing, the "main" line's (ex-C&NW Chicago/Harvard-Janesville/Madison) crossing of Blackhawk Blvd. has four signals on the shoulders and median. Interestingly, photos from the C&NW era show there were gates here then - a rare example of crossing protection being "downgraded."

Distant Glimmer
Title:  Distant Glimmer
Description:  UP had a large number of two-bay covered hoppers stored up to their end-of-track at MP 119 south (RR east) of Brooklyn, WI on the segment of the former C&NW Chicago-Twin Cities line between Janesville and Madison. The line is out-of-service west of there through Brooklyn, then operated by Wisconsin and Southern out of Madison. They pulled these in two sections in early May, 2021. This was the second such move, of 77 cars. Unfortunately, due to work I couldn't get them on the extremely rarely used mileage west of the Landmark Co-op through the city of Evansville, catching up just as the train was coming past Landmark.

UP 1025 follows a gondola, three boxcars and sister 1145 toward Five Points and the UP yard
Title:  UP 1025 follows a gondola, three boxcars and sister 1145 toward Five Points and the UP yard
Description:  The UP's Anderson Spur is a stub of the ex-C&NW line which once ran north to Fond du Lac, abandoned beyond the 3 or 4 customers they serve near the US Highway 14 crossing. Another, larger section still exists from Fort Atkinson to Clyman Junction. Circa 2007-08 when I first took up railfanning, they shoved out with an ex-C&NW bay window caboose in the lead to work the spurs which are all trailing point to the south (RR east). It wasn't long after that they started putting a locomotive on each end instead.
