WC 3018 trundles toward Calumet Yard
Title:  WC 3018 trundles toward Calumet Yard
Description:  Returning light engine from the spur that serves Briess Malt and a few other industries along Lake Michigan's shoreline. The carferry S.S. Badger to Ludington, MI was also once served on this line; although the ferry still runs for automobiles it hasn't handled rail traffic in several decades.

WC 3018 pauses on the 26th Street crossing as the crew lines the wye switch
Title:  WC 3018 pauses on the 26th Street crossing as the crew lines the wye switch
Description:  The crew operating this engine is the L548, which is based out of Manitowoc's Calumet Yard and works the industries around town. The "road" train is L524, which handles the traffic to and from the outside world at Neenah. 3018 is the last remnant of the once mighty fleets of sharp looking maroon and gold GP40s, SD45s, GP30s, SDL39s and others that roamed the rails of the western Great Lakes from the late 1980s to the early 2000s.

Low down on WC 3018 as it's about to return to Calumet Yard once again
Title:  Low down on WC 3018 as it's about to return to Calumet Yard once again
Description:  Let me tell you, going into 2020 I never expected to get DSLR photos (and HD video) of a maroon and gold WC GP40 in action! The last time I saw one was October, 2009. Some might remember that 3018 is the infamous "Frankenstein" unit, which prior to painting by WSOR's Horicon shops in 1995 had various long hood panels, cab and short hood from SBD, BN, and other (wrecked and cannibalized) WC units.
