Lining the switch for...wait, WHAT?!
Title:  Lining the switch for...wait, WHAT?!
Description:  Actually I knew this was coming on the point of train MALBUB. This is the first time I have ever laid eyes on 1995 in the 12 years it has been on the rails. Also only the second time I've ever seen ANY of the UP Heritage Units, and my first time seeing one of them in motion (leading or not).

A momentous occasion, but...
Title:  A momentous occasion, but...
Description:  This was about as close of an unobstructed shot I would get west of the Adams yard.

Arrrrrrrgh
Title:  Arrrrrrrgh
Description:  It's always something with me and Heritage units leading. In this case, my first sighting of ANY of UP's fleet (and it just happens to be my most coveted) is abbreviated by MBUWN pulling west on the main to clear a switch in the yard.

UP 1995 and its famous giant C&NW logo
Title:  UP 1995 and its famous giant C&NW logo
Description:  After my first runby was borked by MBUWN, MALBUB and its highly desirable lead unit spent over three and half hours in the yard.

Finally!
Title:  Finally!
Description:  Heavily backlit by the sinking sun, but I was determined to see as much as possible on my first opportunity to get ANY of UP's Heritage fleet moving, let alone leading. After over three and a half hours in Adams yard, MALBUB finally has its track warrant and starts the pull east.

Parting glimpse of North Western heritage
Title:  Parting glimpse of North Western heritage
Description:  After the head end just beat us to Oxford, I called it quits and jumped on I-39 south to head home to Madison. Our timing was just right for my girlfriend to snag this with her iPhone from the passenger window. I like how the phone camera's low resolution combined with our 70+ MPH motion creates a kind of watercolor effect.
