This unit was photographed in Manitowoc about ten years ago. In the interim, some thoughtful person has touched up the shield logo on the short hood. |

Low down on WC 3018 as it's about to return to Calumet Yard once again |
Description: |
Let me tell you, going into 2020 I never expected to get DSLR photos (and HD video) of a maroon and gold WC GP40 in action! The last time I saw one was October, 2009. Some might remember that 3018 is the infamous "Frankenstein" unit, which prior to painting by WSOR's Horicon shops in 1995 had various long hood panels, cab and short hood from SBD, BN, and other (wrecked and cannibalized) WC units. |

The presence of this car in the yard was my first clue that the L548 wasn't in/en route to/from Rockwood, although I'm not sure if they use it every trip. |

The Saemann Avenue crossing, looking west |
Description: |
These are the last wigwag type crossing signals left in active service in Wisconsin, and possibly in the country. A UP maintainer soon drove up and tested the wigwags. He told me I'd missed the train, which ran earlier on this day than it typically does (go figure), but at least I got some video of the wigwags swinging anyway. |

The Byron Hill helper power chases the train it will assist, M342, approaching CP Valley |
Description: |
I just missed a SB manifest (M342) whose head end reached the crossing as I pulled up. Then I saw 901's headlight hot on its heels! In the past, the helper power has already been tied on to the train out of Shops Yard, but it's been several years since I've observed helper operations around Fondy. |
