WAMX 4175 behind 6334
Title:  WAMX 4175 behind 6334
Description:  This unit ran as WSOR 4006 in the Gardner era, and was one of the initial group of six ex-Rock Island SD40-2s acquired by the railroad in the early 2000s. Still no luck for me in finding sister 4170 (formerly WSOR 4001) in its new 40th Anniversary scheme.

Y301 drills the yard
Title:  Y301 drills the yard
Description:  The UP local beat me to Tiffany, so I headed back into Janesville to see what was doing on the WSOR. This yard job with the WAMX 4175 (ex-4006) pulled the two tank cars immediately behind the power off the cut and shoved them down to the UP interchange.

T004 power runs light to collect two from DeLong
Title:  T004 power runs light to collect two from DeLong
Description:  Coming back from Rockford, I pulled off in Janesville to see what I could find. I was picking up a FRED beep on the scanner and checked out the UP yard first. No sign of any action there, so I headed north on Read Road and found this train already going over the crossing. I turned around and took Avalon Road to this location, expecting them to come flying through en route to Bardwell and points east. Instead they came to a stop and cut off the power to make a pickup here, which I have never known the road train to do. DeLong acquired this grain facility at Avalon from Gavilon in 2016. Their switcher, ex-BN SD40-2 7161, can be seen just to the right of the WSOR power.

Pulling two from DeLong out to the main
Title:  Pulling two from DeLong out to the main
Description:  After they backed these down onto the rest of the train, I had hoped they might highball for points east, but instead they turned the lights off.

Two for One
Title:  Two for One
Description:  As I was passing through Milton I saw the headlight (of 4173) to the west, and drove over to investigate. At first it was just the three units, then to my surprise yet another headlight appeared to the west. This was 4177 long hood forward, coupled to 4179 and a train.

Coming in for the joint...
Title:  Coming in for the joint...
Description:  There were two crews working with this group of five SD40-2s, I believe they were the T004 and T006 but not sure which was which or what became of the cars from one of the trains (the train as I saw it in Janesville later was just the cut of covered hoppers). Just another day in the bizarro world of the WSOR.
