Belle of the ball finally gets to strut her stuff
Title:  Belle of the ball finally gets to strut her stuff
Description:  On the west (head) end of GSKNEV-15 which arrived at South Janesville on the morning of Sunday the 17th was another KCS unit in "Southern Belle" paint, and this one was unique! During the lockdown phase of the COVID-19 pandemic, 4009 received this special version of the scheme with a "Dual Flags" motif (similar to CP's with the US/Canada flags) and a dedication to KCS's "Resilient and Essential" employees. The other side has the "compass" below the cab numbers display "S" and the same dedication in Spanish. While the train was parked at the yard, 4009 was barely visible from public property and never well-sunlit, so myself and many other local railfans were gnashing their teeth hoping it would move (a) in daylight and (b) while we were free to go catch it. I lucked out, getting done at my afternoon dentist's appointment about half an hour before the heads up post that they were on the move (they didn't find any damage from the gnashing, btw).

Passing the derail just east of Tuttle Road
Title:  Passing the derail just east of Tuttle Road
Description:  I thought they might have to stop to open it...nope. Crew of the loads that left the previous afternoon must have left it open, since there were no longer any cars in the Landmark facility.

Easing around the loop, under the Landmark/ALCIVIA loader
Title:  Easing around the loop, under the Landmark/ALCIVIA loader
Description:  This was a bit odd, typically these trains go in via the west switch and loop around to the south and east, but I guess in the end it doesn't make a whole lot of difference, especially if they use a head/tail DPU setup as this train did.
