This is a one-of-a-kind unit. It was one of only two GP39-2s on the Soo Line roster. The other, 4598, still carries its Soo Line paint and reporting marks. I caught that on the M&P earlier this year. This train was restricted to 25 MPH to do its work along the line. |

Despite waiting around a few more minutes at Columbus to catch Amtrak #8, I had ample time to get set up for this shot only about seven miles to the west. The weed sprayer train was limited to 25 MPH, and is slowing to a stop anyway to meet two at Dodge West. |

The train is passing "Rio East," a short manual-throw siding that is primarily used as an escape hatch for MoW gangs on the single track between Dodge West and Wyocena. Although, this is one of the few trains that could fit in it if necessary! About five years ago I saw the TEC train use it to meet opposing traffic. |
