Title:  CP 6644 (D-Day Commemorative Unit) West, empty ethanol train 651
Description:  Birdsey St. at 1512. The number is a reference to the date of "D-Day" (for those who slept through history class, the day the Allies landed at Normandy in occupied France, generally considered the turning point of World War II in Europe), June 6, 1944. The paint scheme is based on that of the RCAF "Spitfire" planes used there. For the commemorative numbering, this engine was moved from its ordinary roster position of 7024. The other four military tribute SD70ACUs are numbered normally 7020-23. The next unit, 7025, and up are in the standard red paint with Golden Beaver logo.

Description:  The (by PSR/distributed power era standards) fairly short, and empty 651 train had no trouble quickly accelerating to track speed. 6644's paint scheme was inspired by that of the Royal Canadian Air Force's "Spitfire" planes used during World War II including D-Day.

Description:  The third of the group of ten "Heritage"-paint ACUs I've caught leading. It has the "block" lettering instead of the "Script" found on the other two, but it can't really be seen because the long hood is in such shadow. They made a pick-up at the yard and departed eastward in about 90 minutes, but I had to break off and go back to work.

Description:  It has become common for the same consists to turn back and forth on CP's Bensenville (Chicago)-St. Paul corridor several times over the course of a few weeks. Description:  It's one year and a day after I caught my first of CP's SD70ACUs leading a train (coincidentally, it was 7010, the trailing unit here). After they became quite common as leaders on this line last summer, they've largely disappeared since the start of the new year due to new PTC requirements and their ongoing issues with the software. This is train 681, sand empties bound for the Smart Sand plant at Oakdale.
