The Meigs spur is actually the only remaining stub of the old Soo Line "P-Line" that once came down from Stevens Point (abandoned in the 1940s!), and the tail track used for headroom on it is a stub of the old MILW Northern Division line to Horicon/Milwaukee (abandoned between here and Cambria in the early '80s). |

This was my main reason for road tripping to Winona. Street running trackage used to be fairly common in the Midwest, but most sections have been bypassed and abandoned where possible. This is one of the only active sections left. It is not a mainline but is used regularly by this job to service several industries along the riverfront. |
