Some clean red and gray power whiles away a bright winter afternoon
Title:  Some clean red and gray power whiles away a bright winter afternoon
Description:  They rarely move for me anymore, especially not when they're clean and in light like this. 4182 was the WSOR 4013, which never made it out of BN Cascade Green before it was relettered/numbered for the Watco roster.

A peek of the setting sun glints off WAMX 4182 as T003 heads east through Milton
Title:  A peek of the setting sun glints off WAMX 4182 as T003 heads east through Milton
Description:  This was a busy little stretch of railroad this day; with T006 coming over from the Madison side to switch, then T004 coming from Horicon, now T003 going to Horicon! They're gonna need to install CTC at this rate! Note the U.S. flag stuck in 4182's sand hatch.

WAMX 4182 "leads" the backup move into the siding
Title:  WAMX 4182 "leads" the backup move into the siding
Description:  When I last caught this unit (on this same job) back in March, it had a small U.S. flag stuck in the sand hatch. Now it has a larger Old Glory flying from the engineer's side of the cab.

Quintet on the fuel ramp
Title:  Quintet on the fuel ramp
Description:  Bracketing new kid on the block 4197 are 4182 and 4181, the ex-BN duo that were the last locomotive acquisition by the Gardner-era WSOR, numbered 4012 and 4013 and remaining in their Cascade Green until 2017 or so. Then is 3928, one of two GP39-2s added to the fleet in 2014 in ugly patched UP yellow, it received the 35th Anniversary scheme in June, 2015. A yard crew has just tacked 4192 onto the end. It is one of four ex-C&O SD40M-2s (built as SD40s) acquired by the railroad in 2007-08 as WSOR 4076-79, re# WAMX 4189-4192. 4189/90 have since been sent to service on other Watco properties (at least one of them to the Grand Elk Railroad in Michigan).

Mismatched Doors and Nose Geese
Title:  Mismatched Doors and Nose Geese
Description:  4182 and 4223 (only SD45 carbody on the WSOR) are two of the five (the others being 4181, 4219 and 4197) six-axle units in the "standard" Watco-era version of the red and gray scheme with the thick gray stripe (instead of the narrow, alternating red and gray chevrons) and white goose logo on the short hood. They also both have mismatched all-gray cab doors on the front side. This was done to 4223 sometime in 2020 (I caught it leading in early January still with its proper door), and 4182 sometime between March and September 2020.
