WAMX 4181 pulls a cut south in the yard
Title:  WAMX 4181 pulls a cut south in the yard
Description:  This unit was formerly WSOR 4012, and never made it out of BN Cascade Green until the late summer or early fall of 2017, when Watco painted it into their new version of the red and gray scheme.

WAMX 4181 pauses before shoving back
Title:  WAMX 4181 pauses before shoving back
Description:  This train faked me out. I thought they were departing the yard so I started to drive down the Isthmus to set up for a runby, but they stopped and reversed after pulling about 20-25 cars over the Johnson St. crossing. After waiting for the traffic backup to clear, I pulled into the parking lot across Fordem. Fortunately they stopped again to line another switch. Unless you brought a stepladder, you have to hold the camera at arm's length and shoot blind thanks to the stupidly high fence they put up on the west side of the yard. This was the only snap that got the whole locomotive in it. Thank goodness for digital.

WAMX 4181 on the fuel ramp
Title:  WAMX 4181 on the fuel ramp
Description:  This is one of two ex-BN units brought on to the railroad in 2011, still in Cascade Green as WSOR 4012. It wasn't until after the renumbering into the WAMX roster that the unit finally received red and gray, becoming one of four six axle units in Watco's new version of the scheme. The downward dip in the fat gray stripe is moved from the long hood to the short hood (it wraps straight around the end of the long hood, unlike on the older scheme represented by 4170), replacing the narrow red and gray chevron stripes there.

WAMX 4197
Title:  WAMX 4197
Description:  Buried in the middle of a quintet on the fuel ramp is the newest addition to the roster, and the freshest red and gray paint other than 4170's 40th Anniversary which I have yet to see.

Quintet on the fuel ramp
Title:  Quintet on the fuel ramp
Description:  Bracketing new kid on the block 4197 are 4182 and 4181, the ex-BN duo that were the last locomotive acquisition by the Gardner-era WSOR, numbered 4012 and 4013 and remaining in their Cascade Green until 2017 or so. Then is 3928, one of two GP39-2s added to the fleet in 2014 in ugly patched UP yellow, it received the 35th Anniversary scheme in June, 2015. A yard crew has just tacked 4192 onto the end. It is one of four ex-C&O SD40M-2s (built as SD40s) acquired by the railroad in 2007-08 as WSOR 4076-79, re# WAMX 4189-4192. 4189/90 have since been sent to service on other Watco properties (at least one of them to the Grand Elk Railroad in Michigan).

A who's who of WSOR power
Title:  A who's who of WSOR power
Description:  From left, we have 4170, the class unit of what were the original six ex-CRIP SD40-2s acquired by the railroad in the early 2000s (then numbered 4001). It has been recently repainted into a special 40th Anniversary scheme. Then is 4219, ex-CP and the only red and gray unit with a low headlight. 6334 is one of the two Helm lease units (6313 is coupled behind it) than has been on the property since 2017. 4181, trailing the five-unit power move, is ex-BN and one of the last units acquired by the railroad in the Gardner era. 3947, facing off with the lead unit of the power move on the same track, is the first "new" unit brought on to the property under Watco ownership.

WAMX 4181
Title:  WAMX 4181
Description:  The five-unit power move turned on the wye, then headed back east across Pearl Street. 4181/4179/4187 will be set out on the fuel ramp, while 4171/4183 will become the T003 power.

Finally on the move
Title:  Finally on the move
Description:  Continued from the album "WSOR Madison Subdivision." The maintainer was finally able to help the crew get the temperamental wye switched lined to the "reversed" position for the Waukesha Sub, so they could go grab their train.

WAMX 4181
Title:  WAMX 4181
Description:  One of the two ex-BN SD40-2s (then still in Cascade Green) purchased in late 2011, the last "new" motive power acquisition by the Gardner-era WSOR. Previously WSOR 4012.

WAMX 3947 and 4181
Title:  WAMX 3947 and 4181
Description:  Hostlers and or/yard crews were shuffling around the numerous locomotives present in the Janesville roundhouse/coach yard area throughout the afternoon (previously HLCX 6313 was next to 3947). This is how the Watco-era repaints look with the correct, matching doors. Although, 3947's three-ish year old paint job has some visible chipping/peeling on the engineer's side.
